Selling prints (or not)
Wow, selling prints is hard! Not just the process of making images, getting them print ready and making quality prints, but how do you get them in front of people in the first place.
On (photo) Twitter you see a constant stream of artists pushing their prints. Unfortunately for most mere mortals (absolutely me included) our social media audience is generally like minded people who do the same thing. Selling prints to fellow artists and then reciprocating isn't really going to cut the mustard. It's just moving the wooden dollar, therefore I need to get my images in front of none photographers so...
I have an Etsy account
I have a Photo4me account
and obviously I have my own print shop
but I still need to get eyes on them. Making use of my tech skills I've managed to configure the Wix store to Facebook Commerce and can now start "spamming" targeted ads on FB and Instagram. The FB commerce also allows for shopping to be enabled on FB and Instagram so I've done that also... 🤷♂️
It took a few days to work out and setup but is now up and running. Only time will tell if I actually manage to make any sales with this setup. Here's hoping for something to help pay for that 7x17 ULF film if nothing else! 😉
I'll let you know how it goes (if you really want me to)...
(Obviously this completely ignores the awkward and most obvious scenario that my images aren't good enough or interesting enough for anyone to shell out their hard earned money for, but as I say I'm ignoring that!) 🙄
